Description
The goals of this class are to build dance technique and learn new choreography. Teachers will focus on helping students to develop the stylistic nuances of Indian dance, including posture, arm and leg movement, hand gestures, and expression. Semi-classical classes will incorporate Bollywood choreography but will also integrate a focus on learning proper Bharathanatyam technique and simple choreography.
This class is perfect for young dancers who are planning on studying classical Indian dance. Prior experience in Bollywood – Level 1 is helpful.
Notes:
Required attire is a t-shirt and leggings and bare feet. Please DO NOT have your child wear dresses or distracting accessories to class.
Students are expected to practice 15-20 minutes daily with supervision.
Students are expected to participate at their fullest potential, follow directions and be considerate and respectful of other students and instructor. Students who continue to be disruptive or disrespect the policies will be un-enrolled from the class. There is no eating or chewing gum during class.
Fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.
Attendance is important to continue the moment of the child's progress. The curriculum is designed so that students are building on their skills each week. Children that come in late miss the basic warm ups that will help them with the remainder of the class. Please notify us if your child will be absent. Regular attendance is important for students and is respectful to their classmates with whom they are working with as a group.
Students will perform their work at a recital at an end-of-term recital. Further details on the recital will be shared closer to the recital date.
