Class Experience

This is an open studio time for experienced potters who do not require instruction but want access to a clay studio and firing in our kilns. It is completely self-guided. It is open to potters ages 18 and up. No instruction is included.

Notes

All firing is done by designated Arts Center clay studio instructor ONLY. You may provide your own clay OR purchase from the Arts Center.
The studio will be closed the first two weeks of July. So you will only be charged half of the monthly fee. in July.

Class Requirements

Experienced potters are people 18 or older who have at least one year of experience working on the potters wheel and hand building and do not require any instruction.

Cancellation Policy

Classes are refundable if you let us know via email or phone call prior to the start of the class that you will be unable to keep your reservation. In liu of a refund class reservations can be transfered to a later date if requested.


What To Bring

  • Clay can be purchased from the studio. It is not included. You can bring your own but it must meet the requirements for firing in our kiln. See studio managers for that information.
  • Glaze is included.
  • Firing is included but limited.  As of Sept. 1st 2022 excessively large/heavy pieces or an excessive amount of work to be fired will incure additional fees. See the studio managers for that information.

Tracy W.

Kim B.

Kim Bowen has a Bachelor of Arts and a Masters in Education along with over thirty years of experience in Ceramics and various other art forms. For many years, she taught third and fourth grade but she loves to teach individuals of all ages. She strongly believes in the importance of fostering creativity and joy in her students. She invites you to come join us for a relaxing and fun time!

Erin S.

Erin Spainhour received her BA in Visual Arts from Lander University. She has been teaching art for over 5 years, and is currently teaching 4 classes at the Anderson Arts Center. When Erin is not teaching, she is working on her photography project or taking on freelance design jobs. She enjoys introducing the students to art history as well as creating a fun and relaxed environment in her classes.
