Our workshop instructor, Teresa Oxaca (pictured above as she paints), is a master artist who works in her studio in Washington. She is a full time painter whose works can be seen in collections and galleries throughout the U.S. and internationally. Her talent has been recognized and rewarded by museums and institutions such as the former Corcoran Gallery of Art, the Art Renewal Center, the Elisabeth Greenshields Foundation, the Posey Foundation, and The Portrait Society of America and the Museu Europeu D’Art Modern in Barcelona.
In this workshop, we will be painting a still-life with the theme of an outdoor banquet. There will flowers, tea sets, pastries and fruits will all set up on tables. Students will watch live painting demonstrations from Teresa and receive individualized critiques. Emphasis will be on color, matching values, drawing and design of space. An added element will be the mixing in of outside photo references, such as birds, other small creatures or a landscape into the painting. Understanding how to animate photographs and mix references will be discussed.
