THE ARTFARM STUDENT UNION IS A NEW PROGRAM AT ARTFARM WHERE YOUNG ARTISTS GET TO MAKE THE DECISIONS WHILE CREATING, COLLABORATING AND MAKING WAVES TOGETHER. WITH THE HELP OF MENTORS IN THE ARTS, WE WILL ENCOURAGE THEM AND INCLUDE THEIR YOUNG VOICES IN THE CONVERSATION OF OUR CITY AND COUNTY ARTS COMMUNITY.
Goals: Empowerment, socialization with other like-minded kids, diversity, teaching how the arts work (how to plan events, classes, community outreach, collaboration), team building, community outreach, education. Inclusive to ALL.
Who Can Join?
Anyone in 8th through 12th grades
(Older teens/college aged could be mentors/teachers/get service hours)
What Can We Expect?
Starting Spring 2021, we will be starting the AFSU with open studios for small groups of kids to use the ArtFarm Studios space to create their own work and socialize with other young artists. After we get a good number of kids attending open studios, and Covid isn’t a worry, we will move into phase two and begin bringing in speakers, going on field trips, and discussing collaborative group projects within our community.
When Does it Start?!
Open Studios will begin in April 7th and be held every Wednesday and Saturday from Noon-3pm. Students will be required to bring their own materials, but we will also have some materials to share on hand (pencils, drawing paper, non consumable art supplies, etc). We will be taking a break July and August to focus on Summer Camps, but will pick back up in September.
Since we are going to be following social distancing for some time, we are only allowing 8 kids to gather at a time. Cost will be $25/open studio OR you can purchase a class pack for discounted days:
20 days - $360 ($18 each)
10 days - $200 ($20 each)
