Description
This is our first class that was created out of the spirit of the Fearless Photo Camp that's been going on for 5 years at ArtFarm.
In a world of selfie photos, our mission is to turn the camera around and begin photographing our community.
Taught by photographer Alison Harbaugh, former Capital newspaper photographer and currently working as a freelance documentary and editorial photographer will work with the teens to develop individual stories about our community.
What will they learn?
-Camera 101 (DSLR camera or Mirrorless Camera)
-Composition Techniques
-Simple Lighting Tips
-How to develop photo essay
-How to create a shot list
-How to take an interesting portrait
-How to do a simple interview with a subject
-Going out into the community and photographing
-Editing your images (simple editing techniques...this is not a photoshop or Lightroom class)
-How to write captions to go along with your photos
NOTE: Each student will be asked to complete at least one story over the 8-week class...this may require them to do their photography work outside of class time. Think of it as really fun homework!
Notes:
Things that you will need for this class:
Either a DSLR or Mirrorless Camera (a camera with a removable lens and multiple settings such as Av, Tv/S Modes)
Willingness to work on the assigned projects outside of class - this may require the student to go out a few days during the 8-week session to work on their photo essay on their own time.
A laptop is helpful but in no way required. This will be used to download images and work on edits in the classroom. We will have one or two on hand to use as well, so it's not a big deal if they don't have one to use.
Thumb drive or External Hard Drive to keep their images on throughout the class.
