In this ceramic sculpture class participants will be introduced to the technique of solid sculpture with clay onto a steel armature. This process allows us to achieve dramatic gestures in clay via the support of steel pipe, tin foil, and wire. Students will work on creating evocative animal sculptures. After construction is complete participants will cut apart, hollow, and reattach their sculptures in order to preserve the gesture throughout the firing. In the post-firing stage, students will experiment with cold finishes and unique ways of completing ceramic work. All materials are included in the class fee.
