“Inspiration exists, but it has to find you working” - Pablo Picasso
The Daily Artists group exists to support and encourage one another in our creative endeavors and is excited to announce our 2023 program.
The Daily Artists' year begins on Feb. 1, with each participant setting their intention to work at their art every day of the year. The practice can take many forms, from creating a drawing a day, or a pinch-pot, say, or scheduling 15 minutes in the studio that sometimes can evolve into 15 hours at the easel.
We hold monthly meetings to hear presentations by and hold discussions with our fellow Daily Artists. In 2023, we will also plan a larger event for Daily Artists every quarter, with workshops and presentations from visiting artists, on topics of interest such as how to find and approach galleries, how to answer Calls for Entry to national exhibits, best social media practices for artists, and other topics to be determined by the group. In addition, we get together for coffee and share our work through a dedicated Flickr page (see https://flickr.com/groups/14840147@N22 -last year’s page).
New for 2023 - Artistree is hosting Open Studios in our painting studio, which are free for Daily Artists.
Open Studio hours are held in the Painting Studio on Mondays from 9:00am-12pm. During this time, artists are able to socailze with others, work independantly on their own art and enjoy learning from one another. Please bring your own materials with you to this group! If you'd like to attend an Open Studio time, please call the office at 802.457.3500 to reserve a spot.
Also, Daily Artists can receive a 10% discount on one class or workshop/session. A separate $15 exhibit fee will be charged to artists who want to participate in the end-of-year exhibit in 2024.
Artistree provides scholarship help for those who may need the assistance to participate. Please visit https://artistreevt.org/scholarships to apply online for a scholarship to this program or call 802.457.3500 for assistance.
The Daily Artists are lead by Deborah Goodwin, exhibits coordinator & ceramic artist. Please contact her at exhibits@artistreevt.org with any questions!
Deborah Goodwin has a BFA in ceramics and sculpture from Denison University, where she also studied art history and worked in the college gallery. After college she began working in the fashion industry, first in display and retail management, then as a buyer, and finally as a successful designer and manufacturer. Upon moving to Vermont in 2007, she resumed working as an artist, making soft sculpture pillows and hand-built ceramics. In 2019, after 5 years of producing her ceramics during Artistree's open studios and teaching a workshop or two, Deborah joined the Artistree staff as Exhibits Coordinator. She enthusiastically develops and installs exhibits that share the fantastic talents of our area's artists with the community.
