Join us for a virtual program designed to provide an artistic outlet for anyone needing healing. Express your feelings through art in a comfortable, calm environment. We provide a starting point for a project, but you may utilize the time as you would like. Suggested materials and the theme for the session will be provided with the Zoom link after registration. Developed under the direction of Emily Skelton, LMFT, Art Therapist, this program is intended for teens and adults. No young children, please.
Over the past year our homes have taken on a whole new meaning. For some, home has been both a refuge and a prison. Some have been home alone for the past year, while others have been separated from home, unable to return. There are so many quotes about home, and what it means. Some say it is where the heart is, some say there is no place like home. Maya Angelou quoted that “The ache for home lives in all of us, the safe place where we can go as we are and not be questioned.” For March's Nest healing art activity, we are acknowledging a year in quarantine by having participants create their own home. This can be 2D (painting, drawing, collage) or 3D (you can use found objects such as sticks, fabric scraps, stones, recyclables, foil, etc.)
If you aren’t sure where to start or are feeling stressed about what to do during our art making time, you can use some mandala templates that you can use for meditative coloring.
