Class Experience
Awake the unconscious mind with abstract painting! This course teaches students to explore shape and color in creating original abstract paintings. Focusing on both planned and dynamic paint applications, students will discover their own personal style while advancing their technical abilities. This course is open to adults and children ages 13 and up.
Other Things To Know
All enrollments are non-refundable. Students may cancel their enrollment two weeks prior to the start date to receive full class credit less any processing and/or material fees.
What To Bring
Students will need to bring the following supplies to class. Not all art supplies are of the same quality. Your instructor has recommended a few brands:
- Brushes: Students will need an assortment of synthetic brushes in all sizes and styles. At minimum, students should have 14-24 size flats, and/or angle flats, and/or filberts. Students will also need a few small and medium synthetic brushes size 6-12.
Students may choose to paint with acrylics or oils. Please bring only the supplies for your chosen medium:
Acrylic Paints Your instructor recommends the brands Golden, Nova, or Liquitex Level 3 Pro
- Mandatory colors: Titanium white and mars black.
- Choice of any yellow, any blue, any red/crimson shade and any green.
Oil Paints Your instructor recommends the Winsor and Newton brand as the most economic. Mid/high grade recommendations are Utrecht, Rembrant, Van Gogh Brand, and Gamblin.
- Mandatory colors: Titanium white and mars black.
- Choice of any yellow, any blue, any red/crimson shade and any green.
- Mona Lisa brand odorless paint thinner
