The possibilities are endless when you're hand building. This class covers four different building methods and also ways to utilize templates and texture. We'll start with a fun project making a face jug (or other sculpture) out of pinch pots. Next, working with soft slabs to make functional pieces like planters and bowls and then onto learning about leather hard slabs for more architectural sculpting. We'll use the extruder for coil pot building, and also to make our own texture tools. We'll talk about how to make and use templates to be able to make multiples of the same item or to make pieces with multiple parts that work together (like a lid on a box, a nesting set, or something that is sized to hold a specific item).
By the end of the session you'll be combining all of these methods to make one of a kind sculptures and funky functional work.
Levels 1,2/ Learners Class

Price includes two makeup classes, studio clay, glazes and slips, plus unlimited studio time during our open hours.
There is a $25 firing fee added at checkout
(this covers up to 10 items. After 10 items you pay standard fees).

If you'd like to work with a specific type of clay, 3 different clay bodies are available in the studio.

We are a non profit. A portion of your tuition goes towards scholarships for neighborhood kids to take our classes for free.

PLEASE NOTE: You must pay in full to reserve your spot in class. You are only eligible for 2 makeup classes if you pay full price. If you join after the first session, you can take 1 makeup class, and if you join more than halfway through, you cannot take any makeup classes.

You must pay in full to reserve your spot in a class.
To receive a refund, requests must be received one week prior to the first day of class.
After that time, no refunds or exchanges will be issued. Makeup classes are allowed within 2 weeks of your missed classes.
If you join a class once it's already in session, we do not offer refunds.
If you need to drop out a class once it has begun due to personal injury we cannot issue a refund or an exchange.
However, if we receive an official doctor's note, we can try to move you into the following session pending availability.
For family emergencies, sick pets, moving, and all other issues, we do not offer refunds or exchanges.
Please note if you are paying in installments: we offer the option to pay in installments as a courtesy to the customer.
The second installment of your payment is not negotiable for any reason.
