This year BackStory Theatre is excited to be able to offer students the opportunity to be more involved with the tech portion of the production.
The Sound of Music Crew will meet Wednesdays throughout the rehearsal process to:
In addition to Wednesday build days, The Sound of Music Crew will be called for select rehearsals to practice scene changes and other support they will be responsible for during the performance.
During our first class, we will determine what position each student will serve on the crew during the performances. Some of the crew positions will require a bit more time than others.
Positions we will include:
Stagehand - This group will be responsible for moving the set pieces around during the show. **Will need to be at all tech rehearsals and performances.
Prop Masters - This duo will be responsible for the hand props. They will help lead pulling props, organizing, and tracking where they need to be set for the show. **Will need to be at all tech rehearsals and performances.
Dressers - This group will support the Head Costumer in organizing costumes, and assisting actors with quick changes, and costume fittings. **May be called for special costume work sessions. Will need to be at all tech rehearsals and performances.
Prompter - This position is quite different from the other positions on the crew. The prompter will sit in on rehearsals after the cast is off book and follow along in the script to assist the cast when they call for a line. **Will need to be at all rehearsals from October 4th to November 9th.
Ushers/Front-of-house support - This group will help check in audience members, hand out programs, and help audience members find their seats. They may also help with setting up concessions and taking donations. **This position is needed for all performances but can accommodate a crew member who needs to miss some performances.
Build crew only - This position is for crew members who are not able to be at the performances but would still like to participate in the production.
