Description
Our 4th grade ELA enrichment class is intended for families interested in ensuring their child has a strong grasp of reading and writing fundamentals. Whether students are filling gaps from remote learning, need enrichment or support with current course work, we are happy to help!
4th grade is a big transition year as students move from learning to read to reading for comprehension, so it is important for students to have a strong foundation for 5th grade.
The curriculum will be customized to each particular group and provide an encouraging learning environment. Reading comprehension topics include identifying main ideas, supporting details, inferences, themes, literary devices, points of view in narrated stories/poems and more. Students will also review critical vocabulary and vocab in context questions.
ELA writing topics include: summarizing text, explaining events, procedures and ideas, describing the overall structure of events, ideas, concepts, integrating information from two texts on the same topic in order to write or speak about the subject knowledgeably.
