This set of clubhouse meetings is designed to introduce Boolean Girls to the micro:bit and express their creativity through sound and art. Driven by their own ideas and passions participants will design and build creations based on their interests.
Start by explore core computing concepts while creating animations on the micro:bit’s using the LED display including algorithms, pattern recognition and abstraction. Continue by adding lights and motion to artistic creations at follow on meetings of the clubhouse.
Finally we will explore the using the micro:bit’s accelerometer sensor in code. Using built-in gesture recognition, you’ll make projects that respond when you shake the micro:bit or rotate it in different directions like a phone or tablet screen. These projects might use gestures to play music/sounds or trigger art in motion.
Cost is $25 per session or $50 for four (scholarships available for families in need). You don't need to commit to attending every Saturday. Students may start, pause and restart their participation at any time.
