Description
General Summary: Full-day program which focuses on the empowerment of girls and self esteem. The instructors of this program are all strong, intelligent women to serve as role models. This camp includes all the elements of S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics) and daily P.E. The science themes revolve around the idea of healthy body, healthy mind, and healthy relationships.
Detailed Description:
July 15 – 19: The Science of Healthy Relationships
Science: Relationship science is critical in the formation of social skills like effective communication and establishing boundaries. Girls will study a variety of social situations and practice techniques for effective communication. Girls will learn how to set healthy boundaries for friendships including how to say no and combat peer pressure. Movie scenes, Ted-Ed talks and discussions will be tools in this class. Daily yoga class will be part of this fun class. Writing, acting and performing a end-of-week skit will help girls to engage in self expression while practicing various forms of communication.
Art: Students will also create art pieces that help them express their identity through a variety of art mediums including painting, writing and sculpture.
Technology Exploration Stations: Students will engage in technology-based activities and centers that may include: video editing with WeVideo, Makey Makey, virtual reality, video game design with Scratch, computer programming with Raspberry Pi, and Green Screen.
