We are welcoming women who learn, grow, and heal through joyful song. Our choir is open to all women ages 18 yrs+, regardless of experience or training. We meet weekly on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 pm from September - June, and our rehearsals include centering breath exercises, vocal technique & warm-ups, a hint of music theory, and songs that both ground us and uplift. Repertoire ranges from traditional choral selections to contemporary arrangements, and most of the music we sing is by female artists. This term each choir member will also participate in a 1:1 coaching with the Director.
A singer in St. Johns Women’s Choir will:
- Be engaged with her community through ensemble and song.
- Perform beautiful and compelling music.
- Learn works by female artists across genres.
- Participate in collaborative processes.
- Improve her music literacy and musical development.
- Find healing through ensemble and song.
Performances: This season, we are going with the flow and keeping our singing safe in accordance with guidelines around COVID-19. Our spring term will consist of a music video project, which we will complete and publish following our final rehearsal in May.
