Learn the basics of Longform Improvisation and how the rules of Improv are also "life rules"! This class welcomes students who have previously studied theatre and want to meet and work with others similarly inclined, but is also open to those who have never acted and always wanted to try. Activities will include theatre games and improvisation, and scene work appropriate to the class participants.
Instructor: Tony Cohen
After spending the majority of his life eagerly consuming film and comedy from the sidelines, Tony finally took the plunge and began taking improv classes in 2015, two months after moving to Portland. It has not only resulted in a sharpening of his acting and comedic skills, but has also introduced him to an amazing community of like-minded people who are all striving to support and create together.
Tony has found that the rules of comedic improvisation could just as easily be life rules; being a good listener, having empathy, being true to yourself, and knowing that you’re only as good as those around you. These are the values that Tony tries to live by, and reinforce in his acting classes. He relishes the opportunity to work with kids. Their endless imaginations, enthusiasm and love of all things silly make them ideal candidates for learning acting and improv.
In addition to his expertise in improv, Tony is also an accomplished graphic designer. His work can be found at: tony-cohen.squarespace.com
