In this two-day class students will be introduced to the art of lost wax casting. Students will start by learning the basics to wax carving and will carve a ring from a wax ring blank. Students will then make investment molds of their carvings to be cast the next day. Overnight the flasks will be burnt out in the kiln and using a centrifugal casting unit or vaccum casting machine, students will introduce metal into their molds. Students will then be shown how to clean up and finish their cast rings. There is a $30 materials fee for this class. Fee includes ancient bronze casting grain for casting. Sterling silver casting grain available for purchase during the workshop.
