From towering onggi pots in Korea, to elegant coil pots from Central Mexico; coil building is one of the earliest methods to create ceramic vessels. Explore the basics of coiling building with both small and large coils to achieve a variety of sized vessels. Students will learn controlled techniques to achieve vertical pots, as well as methods to maintain wall thickness with even pinching. A beginner's understanding of clay is recommended for this class.

Please note if you’ll be firing. **Smaller pieces will be bisqued fired, but students should be prepared to bring home unfired work.**

Please bring the following:
- 2-3 work towels
- Packing material (cardboard boxes, large plastic containers, newspaper) to transport your pieces home
- Spray bottle
-Bucket or container to carry home scrap clay
- Sketch book
- pens and pencils
- ruler

The studio has the following items, however students are encouraged to bring their own if they have them. Supplies may be limited in the studio.
- Wooden paddle
- Metal rib
- rubber ribs (recommended: red, yellow, green)
- fettling knife
- recommended but not required: Banding wheel
- Set of basic clay-working tools
- Work apron

Clay is available for purchase for the class, clay is $30 per 25lbs.
