Intermediate Conversation focuses primarily on student language production. Students should be comfortable with classes conducted in German. The class offers methodical practice for listening and speaking. Classes are centered around thematic units (politics, travel, Weimar Republic, food) selected as a class by participants. Classes incorporate authentic, German-language media as stimulus for discussion and analysis. This course can be taken multiple times, as the topics covered vary by semester. Additionally, this course can be joined mid-Semester.
For homework, students are encouraged to review and seek out new vocabulary related to the topic of the next class. Additionally, each class will begin with a speaking prompt based on the previous class' topic. Students can elect to prepare for this, where more advanced students are encouraged to try to speak more extemporaneously.
