Below are more details on our CONFIDENT FRIENDSHIPS CAMP.
Positive Friendships
In our first day of camp together, we will share why having positive friendships can impact our health in a good way. If we are in a friendship where we don’t feel valued or treated respectfully, this can impact our health negatively. We will discuss what positive friendships look like and qualities of a good friend.
Being Left Out & Excluded
One of the biggest challenges girls deal with in friendships is being left out or excluded by a friend. Whether it’s by accident or intentional, many girls don’t know how to handle the situation. During the day, girls will be able to share examples or stories of when this has happened to them. We will share productive and positive ways to manage these situations.
Dealing with Bullies
Many times girls confuse bullying with a friend or classmate who has been mean to them. We will share the true definition of what a bully is, discuss reasons why a bully might behave the way they do, and share ways to deal with a bully.
Supporting One Another- Girl Power
Girls need to support each other. Let’s face it, many of us find ourselves comparing ourselves to our friends, classmates, or even sisters. We may find ourselves wanting that person to fail or not succeed so we can feel better about ourselves. This is something we need to change in our world. We need to teach our girls early on life to support each other in everything we do. This will help build our confidence in so many ways and help our friends become more confident in the process.
Filling Your and Others Buckets
In this last day of camp together, we will discuss the concept behind the book called "How Full Is Your Bucket?" The book explains that we all have a bucket within us that needs to be filled with positive interactions, kind words, and encouragement. When we're negative toward others, we use a dipper to remove from their buckets and diminish their positive outlook. In order to have confident friendships in our lives, we need to fill each other’s buckets and in the process of doing that, we will fill our own buckets.
Below are more details on our BOYS WITH CHARACTER CAMP.
Having Character & Confidence
We will explore what it means to have strong character and be confident and believe in yourself and your choices. This camp will provide a fun and comfortable environment for boys to share, listen, and learn ways to be more confident while having a blast making new friends.
Managing Emotions
This workshop educates the boys on all the different emotions they may experience and why they have these emotions. Many boys have difficulty in this area whether it's keeping all thier feelings inside, having an angry tantrum, crying, etc. We will help the boys learn ways to manage through these emotions in a productive and positive way.
Stress & Anxiety
A really important area that impacts our health is the management of stress and anxiety. We will talk about what stress and anxiety are, ask the boys to share examples of what stresses them out, and, most importantly, discuss ways to manage stress in our lives.
Social Skills
During this day we will talk about the importance of having good social skills. Areas we will cover with the boys include: Using eye contact when speaking to others, using positive words, avoiding the use of bad language or negative words, what to do when you meet someone, how to introduce yourself, etc. And overall helpiing the boys feel comfortable having a conversation with an adult or one of their peers.
Friendships
We will discuss friendships and how important they are to building boys' confidence. We all know that challenges can start as young as Kindergarten and will continue to get more challenging as they get older. We will cover what it means to be a good friend, how to make new friends, and qualities to look for in friends. Boys will be encouraged to share the challenges they experience and we will guide them on ways to handle it in the future.
