Campers will explore images, express feelings, and practice creative collaboration through poetry writing. Over the course of the week, we will read poetry, reflect on craft, keep journals, and write and revise both individual and group poems. Our last day will feature a poetry reading to which parents and friends are invited. Student work will be published in the Girls With Pens Anthology and blog.
Teacher Laurie Filipelli is the author of two books of poems, "Elseplace" (2013) and "Girl Paper Stone" (2018), and holds an M.F.A in Poetry from Indiana University. She has taught high school English, trained writers to teach in public schools, led poetry camps for Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth, and helped countless students on their college admission journey through her coaching business Mighty Writing, LLC.
If meeting in person does not seem safe at the time of this camp, it will switch to an on-line event.
