This Enduro mountain bike race program focuses on supporting race efforts, building, expanding, and refining riders' Enduro skills with an emphasis on building fitness, strength, skills, and experience during the Enduro Race season. Racers in this program will compete in regional Enduro Races and Race Series including; the Revolution Enduro, Powderhorn Race Series.

Race focused, riders will ride in teams (JV and Varsity) and groups and will need to demonstrate a base skill set to maintain a fun, safe, cohesive crew that can ride a technical set of trails and support one another at races. The team will have a maximum of 26 riders split into two 13-rider crews based on pace and ability.

Although Enduro is a race style where downhill Stages are timed and climbs are not usually, Enduro racing, practices, and training will involve A LOT OF CLIMBING. Riding uphill builds fitness, technical riding skills, and it is how we get to the top of trails.

Practices

Practices will be Tuesdays and Thursdays 5:30-7:30pm during the school year. During the summer, practices will be Tuesday mornings 7:00-9:00AM and Thursday afternoons at Powderhorn. On race weekends there will be no practice on Thursday.

Practice will be held at the race venue on Friday. Coach led pre-ride at supported events on practice days.

Transportation

Rides to Powderhorn in the team van will be based on signup and be an additional fee. There are not enough seats for every rider.
In town use of the van for shuttles is included in program fees, other trips will be charged based on mileage.

Season dates April 7th through August 20th. Mid-season break June 29th through July 9th.

This program will include a bike maintenance clinic at local bike shop(s).

All riders will receive a practice shirt. GVYC Team Kit is required at races, but not included. Upon registration, you will receive information about how to order team kit.

Grand Valley Youth Cycling (GVYC) is a nonprofit organization that delivers high quality afterschool and year-round mountain bike programming for 6th - 12th grade students in the community. Initially founded in 2011 to support the needs of high school bike racing teams in the Colorado High School Cycling League, we have since expanded to better serve the youth of the Grand Valley through the addition of middle school and other skill-based mountain biking programs to meet a larger range of abilities and interests.
