Group Ukulele Lessons for 8-12 year olds (Spring 2019)

Ages 8 - 12 yrs

Description

This is a great chance for kids eight and older to learn to strum, pick and sing along on the ukulele, a small instrument that can pack a big punch.

Using both original and traditional material, we create arrangements that allow beginners and more experienced students to participate at their own level of skill.

Special events give students a chance to perform on stage, alongside professional musicians. The spring semester culminates with our annual city wide concert event at George Washington Carver Museum.

Learning an instrument is a lot of fun, and offers an invaluable skill that children can use throughout a lifetime. Learning to play, nonetheless, requires, commitment and discipline, and we ask that students and families work with teachers to insure success with a reasonable practice regimen.

We strive to make our programs affordable to all families, and some scholarships are available. Please inquire for more information.

We encourage students to have ukuleles or purchase one through us. Starter ukuleles are available for less than $50.00. The accompanying book, James Hill's Ukulele in the Classroom, is also helpful, and can be purchased from Groundwork or online for $13.00.
