Illustration and comics are more than just funny characters and advertising, they are the arts of storytelling! In this class students will learn how to create a comic to communicate a story in a visually beautiful, and intriguing way. They will learn that understanding the design principles that go into any work of art apply to sequential and narrative art too. The students will study examples of narrative art throughout history, such as early cave paintings, the work of the first manga artist Katsushika Hokusai (early 1800s), as well as contemporary comic art and illustration.
