Is your child the next viral YouTube sensation? Perhaps a future movie director? In our Movie Maker Camp, campers learn the science behind Hollywood's special effects and basic filmmaking techniques as we create MOVIE TRAILERS and Mini Movies!. Campers will create a storyboard, script, set, and sound FX for their mini-movies. Campers will also learn various special effects, how to work with green screens as well as write scripts and act out our very own newscast!
WHO Can attend this camp?
This camp is for students aged 8-12. Each piece of artwork is simplified, modified, or challenged depending on the age of the child. Most of our classrooms are wheelchair accessible (please call in advance, but we are happy to accommodate) Our classes are also friendly for children of all learning capacities, and we welcome students that are neurodivergent. If your child has an RBT that would like to attend to support, we can also accommodate, as long as we know in advance. (please call/text us)
WHO is teaching?
Asia Di Antonio and Daniel Stock (Owners) will be monitoring camp activities at our studio daily. Each camp will also have one certified instructor or Lab teacher, as well as Jr. helpers (Volunteer program with ages 12-18). Class sizes are typically anywhere from 10 to 25 students, depending on the class, but generally average around 18 students.
WHEN does Camp run?
Summer Camp runs all summer long starting the Week of May 29 and ending the August 11.
Camp Drop off and Pick Up:
KidzArt and Club Scientific are proud to update our drop-off and pick-up procedures to maximize the time our students are having fun in camp and provide a seamless experience where our families no longer have to battle with parking.
We will now have a STAGGERED drop-off and pick-up by letter of the student's LAST NAME. (this does not apply to students in the morning/aftercare)
Morning Drop Off:
9:00 am to 9:15 am A-H
9:15 am to 9:30 am I-L
9:30 am to 9:45 am M-R
9:45 am to 10:00 am S-Z
Afternoon Pick-Up:
2:30 pm to 2:40 pm A-H
2:40 pm to 2:50 pm I-L
2:50 pm to 3:00 pm M-R
3:00 pm to 3:10 pm S-Z
We ask that families DO follow these timeslots, although we understand that things come up, and sometimes students will need to be dropped off earlier/later than the above timeslots. Please just let us know in advance, if possible, so we can have your kiddos ready to go!
Camp instruction starts at 10 am and ends at 2:30 pm every day. During drop-off and pick-up times, students will have educational centers and games, or have opportunities to finish projects from previous days.
On Fridays, we always have Gallery/ Science Fair Day, where we invite families to join us to see all of the wonderful things our students have created throughout the week. This will also be staggered, and we will send out staggered times for you to come and view your children's projects.
Morning Care and Aftercare:
Morning and aftercare will be provided this year by the certified instructors. Prices are available upon checkout. Morning care will be from 8 am to 9 am (drop off any time between) Aftercare is from 3 pm-5 pm (Pick up any time) During these times students will have snack time (pm), free play/art, and guided games and activities. This program is not continued learning from the art/science program and is meant to function like any after-school program.
WHAT should the students bring to camp?
Lunch and Snack:
Every day students should bring a water bottle and snack. There is no water fountain on-site, and KidzArt and Club Sci are not authorized to provide snacks for children. We also prefer that lunches and snacks that come to our studio are NUT FREE. We suggest that if your child is in aftercare, they bring an additional snack. Lunchtime is tentatively set at around 12 pm every day. Students must bring their own home lunch and snack every day BUT FRIDAY (Pizza is provided on gallery days!) If your child has any food allergies, please let us know ahead of time.
If lunch is FORGOTTEN and parents cannot get lunch for their child, lunch will be provided via Timmy T’s Gourmet Grinders (either a turkey or Ham sandwich and chips) There will be a $20 Charge for this Lunch. THIS IS NOT A LUNCH SERVICE and is only used for instances where lunch can’t be provided for the child, KidzArt/ Club Sci understands that every child should eat, and will accommodate as needed. Lunchtime is tentatively set at around 12 pm every day.
Clothing and items:
Students attending camp should wear clothing that can get messy and run around in as well. All art/ science supplies are included in camp, so everything else can stay at home. We strongly advise that all electronics, laptops, and cell phones also stay at home, unless they are purely for communication purposes. Games and toys must also stay at home unless prior permission is given (Just ask please) All of our classrooms mostly also have carpet, so we request that students remove their shoes when entering our classrooms. (slippers are perfect, but any shoe your child is comfortable in works for us)
WHERE is Camp?
Camp has operated out of St. Christopher’s Church for the last 7 years, and we will continue to use this space for our camps! We are so grateful for the wonderful, nurturing space the church has provided. Our programs are held in the back of the church in the “G-play room” “Library” and Room 102, as well as the "nursery". We will also have covered outdoor classrooms for certain camps. All rooms are easy to spot when driving to the back of the parking lot. Each room has large glass double sliding doors. Check-in for camps will take place on the front lanai. Camp instruction will take place in their designated classrooms, Snack and lunch are on the back lanai and grassy areas.
St. Christopher’s has both a ladies and men's restroom right next to the classrooms. For a tour of the facility, please contact us to set up an appointment.
