*NEW* FALL 2026 CERAMIC STUDIO OUTPUT EXPECTATIONS
AND EXTRA FEES POLICIES:
A 'CHIT' System will be implemented to help keep track of student output and as a way to keep students financially accountable for the amount of work that they produce.
CHITS are small (raffle ticket size) pieces of paper. Each Member is responsible for writing their names and months on each of their tickets. CHITS will be placed on or inside or underneath pieces to be fired for Glaze. Staff who load the work will collect the CHITS in an official container as they load.
As Monthly Class Pass Members or Annual Class Pass Members, a set number of CHITS will be given out. IMPORTANT: These CHITS are not replaceable, non-transferable, and good for only a limited time (4 months). Extra CHITS can be purchased for $12 each from any Staff Member.
A visual display will be on the wall in back with dimensions of the 'average' piece (6 inches Length x 7 inches Height x 6 inches Width). This will be labeled as worth 1 CHIT. All (Bisque) work to be fired for Glaze firings MUST be measured against this visual display. The greatest dimension MUST fit into a 6 x 7 x 6 inch box to be worth 1 CHIT*. (If the piece measured fits into 2 boxes, then it is worth 2 CHITS, and so on.) If a student has multiple small pieces, it would be wise to have them fired together and placed on the To GLAZE shelf with 1 CHIT. (Otherwise, if they want it fired separately, they may lose valuable CHITS).
*Multiple flat or low profile pieces (i.e.ornaments, small dishes) where VOLUME is the key indicator will be explained to you in person by your instructor
DRIP FEE POLICY:
Students whose work drips in our kilns and thereby requires our staff to have to grind and re-paint kiln wash on our shelves will be charged a Drip Fee of $10.00. Students who drip will be logged on a sheet that is hung in the hallway, when their fee is collected, the staff member who collects it will cross them off and initial and date it.
