Description
It’s Joke Time! Students learn the rules of comedy, joke writing and cartooning (both single frame and multi frame with recurring characters.) Each class we’ll work on three different projects. We’ll turn an idea into a joke, discuss our jokes (like in the Writers’ Room) and we’ll make a cartoon based on kids’ ideas which they will then caption. Mind-stretching and hilariously funny!
Born and raised in New York City, Guy Richards Smit has been known for his paintings, video installations, musicals and performances that use pop cultural forms such as Stand Up comedy, Pop Music, Comic Books, New York Times’ front pages and even television sitcoms. Writing in the New York Times in 2013, Roberta Smith called Guy’s work a “ …tour de force that showcases his considerable talents for satire, stand up, endurance art and painting…”
