Description
“GMT 220 - Storytelling for Interactive Contexts” is the second course in our Game Master Training and Certification program, and is purpose of the class is to give the participant a set of working skills and guidance in the creation of stories intended for interactive media, including the interactive storytelling that is done via tabletop role-playing games. The course will teach the distinction between story and plot, linear vs. interactive storytelling, as well as cover topics of genre, theme, and purpose in writing. You will gain experience in character development and world building in a group context. The Capstone Project for the class is to create a short narrative that draws from the class’s group world building exercises and which is appropriate for use in a set of collaborative storytelling sessions.
Educator-Gamemaster: Joshua Archer
Participants will need access to a laptop, desktop or tablet computer and a high-speed internet connection. Participants will need a microphone for use with Discord, and a video camera is a nice addition. Most laptops and tablet computers come equipped with all that you need. We find that a set of headphones might also be nice to isolate the sounds coming from the computer, but are not necessary.
*SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE—contact us for info on special need-based rates and possible scholarships!
*OPEN REGISTRATION DURING TERM—you are able/encouraged to sign up for a game regardless of the point in the term as most games will continue across terms if the party desires.
