More than 100 million people populate Minecraft, where they build their own worlds and inhabit them through play. These fictional worlds empower people with the tools to transform their own environments. This is what architecture ought to be. — Bjarke Ingels, Architect
Do you like to build cities in Minecraft?
In this camp, Minecrafters will investigate the most innovative practices in architecture and urban sustainability as they imagine and build cities of the future. Then, they’ll collaborate on MODA’s buildingMinecraft servers to create an environmentally-friendly city mindful of future generations’ quality of life.
Over the course of the week, campers will study the history of urban design, learn about challenges to environmental sustainability, and study how different cities have evolved. They’ll investigate both current and potential solutions to solving environmental challenges linked to human settlements.
Using design thinking, they’ll explore ways to design a sustainable city, taking into account factors like water management, biodiversity, urban ecologies, landscape design, and more. Campers will also design and implement sustainable energy systems with Minecraft’s Redstone to provide power and light to their urban environments.
In addition to designing in Minecraft, campers will have the opportunity to learn and use computer-aided design programs such as WorldEdit and Tinkercad to design their city and bring it to life. They’ll be challenged to consider a wide variety of variables such as aesthetics, sustainability, construction materials, and user experience as they design.

This was the best virtual camp my child has attended! My son continued to work on his project even when the class ended each day! Moda exceeded my expectations! I highly recommend them for virtual and in person camps!
I would recommend when having to download a specific app or program, to give clear instructions on which one to choose.
