Class Experience

Join us for a week of robot building, coding challenges, and competition!

You’ll start the week getting acquainted with a robotics kit that is delivered right to your door. You’ll learn how the kit works, build your first robots, and start coding it to perform tasks and take on challenges.

Each day, you’ll get a new challenge! You’ll collaborate with other campers to meet the challenge as you explore all that our robots can do. You’ll learn how coding and sensors expand your robot’s potential, and how you can reconfigure your bot to do things you’ve never imagined.

On the final day of camp, your bot will compete against other campers’ robots to see whose robot performs best.

You’ll get to keep your robotics kit, so you can continue to build and program with it after the week is over.

Campers will:
Learn to build and program robots or improve their skills at doing so
Improve coding skills
Improve logical reasoning
Learn how to use engineering and coding to overcome a challenge
Solve problems collaboratively
Discuss problems that robots are solving in the real world
Explore careers in robotics
Learn how design, engineering, and coding are used together to create a robot
Practice giving feedback to other campers and receiving it themselves

Supply Requirements:
Registrants are required to purchase a robotics kit ($100) at registration to be shipped to camper's home
Interactive light & sound sensor kit to be shipped to camper’s address
Basic art supplies like scissors, colored paper, markers, glue (for cardboard), crayons, pencils, notepad, and paint
A computer or tablet with a reliable internet connection in order to connect to camp each day

Structured activities and the videos.

I feel the instructor did not have a great handle on motivating or redirecting boys in this age group. There was more independent work time and less structured tasks. Also it seemed that the skill level should have been narrowed down to reduce the gap. Students who were more experienced were left waiting around for students who were struggling a large part of the day.

I loved that my son was inspired to create after viewing different cities.

I did not like the links to online gaming. There are a lot of parents who still do not let their children play online games at this age. My son had access to other games not recommended by the instructor as well with the links.

The making of the Lego mini game. The teacher was very knowledgeable and made the class fun.

Unity crashed all the time, so maybe a better game platform.
