Description

Color embodies a lot of meaning, and the way that we respond to it can be deeply personal. In this class we will explore color and how it relates to our experience, and each student will develop and work with a palette that feels personally meaningful. Students will use still-life and photo references as starting points for creating colorful ink drawings. Some experience in drawing is recommended as a prerequisite; however, the class is also open to beginners who want to jump in and explore drawing in color with ink.

Materials
-Various ink colors. Choose a few colors that excite you, but at a minimum include the primary colors: a red or pink, a yellow, and a blue. For example see Daler-Rowney FW Water Resistant Ink-Primary Colors Set: https://www.dickblick.com/products/daler-rowney-fw-acrylic-water-resistant-artists-ink/. Alternately, you may make your own inks from sustainable materials, or use watered down acrylic paint.
-Drawing Pad 9” x 12” or larger
-Round watercolor, sumi or bamboo brush (for 9"" x 12"" paper use a size 6 brush like this https://www.dickblick.com/items/winsor-newton-sceptre-gold-ii-brush-pointed-round-short-handle-size-6/; use a larger brush for larger paper)
-Water container
-Rags or paper towels
-Welled palette or collection of small plastic or glass containers
-Pencil
-Eraser
-Pencil sharpener

Editing with Snapseed.

Improvements:

It took a while for me to figure out that he was editing with Snapseed and not his phone camera.

A lot of good information was covered in the hour and a half course. The highlight was Kumi showing us how the Snapseed tool works and the demonstrations showing it can dramatically improve our photos.
