Class Experience

Learn how to program in Scratch, online coding platform developed by MIT. Our Scratch curriculum is designed to motivate through example rather than through drills. Kids will gain the confidence to explore the vast Scratch platform on their own by the end of the course.

Typical Day
We want your children’s summer experience with coding to be fun and interactive as possible. A typical day will include

10 am - Morning Circle Time
10:10 am-11:00am Scratch Coding - Learn the day's coding concept with the teacher. Teacher demonstrates the day's project and how it will work. The enthusiasm sustains the kids through the ups and downs of making the code work. Kids learn how to overcome things that "don't work" by figuring it out with the teacher.
11:00am-11:10am Offline Snack Break
11:10am-12pm Scratch Coding - work on a project utilizing the concepts learned earlier with the teacher

On the last day, every student will have an opportunity to give a mini-presentation to the class of their favorite project they worked on during the week. Its ok if students don't quite feel ready to participate, but if they do they leave with a sense of accomplishment for the week.

Age ranges are approximate. If you are unsure which class would be best for your child, please feel free to reach out to us at info@penguincodingschool.com and we would be happy to help.

Loved:

I love how the instructors make coding so fun and let us enjoy coding and building.

Improvements:

I think that it would be nice to code big things like villages because we only get to build little houses and little things. So I think that should be improved.
