Have you ever seen a wild animal like a wolf or deer and wished that you could capture their spirit with your pencil? Have you ever seen a detailed painting or drawing in a textbook, museum, or zoo? If your answer is yes, you’ve most likely seen the magic of scientific illustration! These images bring a book or exhibit to life. In this course you will master a wide range of techniques and skills and learn about the methods and processes employed to create scientific illustrations.

She has so much insider information about colleges it was so nice to talk with her about what colleges expect with applying! This was a really good introduction to what she can offer students applying to colleges!!

About Carrie Patterson
Carrie Patterson is a visual artist working in Leonardtown, Maryland. Her artwork has been exhibited across the country with solo shows in Virginia, Maryland, New York City, Philadelphia, and Minnesota. In 2020 she created The Shaping of America: A Painter's Perspective, a group exhibition that will travel to The Painting Center in January 2022. In addition to being a working artist and professor, Patterson founded The Gesso (a college art consulting company and resource for creative teens) in 2020, The Yellow Line (an art company that provides quality K-12 art education material to individuals and educators) in 2018, and authored the course How to See (produced by The Great Courses) in 2018. She opens up her studio for art classes every Friday.
