About Art Beyond the Ink

Art Beyond the Ink is an educational organization that uses interdisciplinary performance to encourage audiences to be creative listeners. Founded in 2020, Art Beyond the Ink is guided by the philosophy that every piece of music tells a story. By tapping into these stories, we believe that audiences can become empowered to join in on the creative process as listeners, helping to develop empathy and a deeper understanding of oneself. This imaginative expression of one’s emotions and personal narrative also serves as a creative outlet.

Art Beyond the Ink holds interactive presentations and events in and around New York City, as well as virtual events. Our work has two main focuses: musical choices and musical stories. "Musical choices," our name for the theoretical concepts in music, provide a musical vocabulary with which we can describe musical stories in further detail. This second part, the story, is unique to every individual. Our programs offer up story suggestions and our personal interpretations conveyed through interdisciplinary performance, as well as many opportunities for audience members to contribute and share their own ideas. Musicians team up with artists and audiences to bring to life what’s beyond the musical ink! We encourage you to listen for stories in everything you hear.
