Thu, Jul 15, 2021 - Aug 19, 2021
4:00pm - 5:30pm EDT
We’ll continue the teaching of businesses, companies, and equity investments in this workshop. This workshop is suitable for students who have taken “Intro to Investing” or “Business Strategies” workshops. Students who haven’t taken either workshops but are able to follow the book “Common Stocks & Common Sense” by Edgar Wachenheim III are welcome to join this workshop as well.
“Common Stocks and Common Sense” is a great guide on value investing and it includes many detailed and insightful case studies. We’ll teach students key topics covered in the book and deepen students’ understanding through select case studies. Students are expected to broaden their knowledge base of valuation, research & analysis, and company due diligence, and develop an appreciation for the mind and life of a value investor.
In addition, we’ll review major developments over this past year, which is a great case study in itself about the effects of monetary and fiscal policies, the drivers for volatility, and the importance of portfolio diversification.
We'll be using the book "Common Stocks & Common Sense" by Edgar Wachenheim III in this workshop. Please purchase the book before the start of the workshop.
This workshop will have a maximum of 8 students. However, this workshop will be cancelled if fewer than 3 students sign up for this workshop, in which case parents will be fully reimbursed.
