Class Experience

This camp starts at 5pm ET (4pm CT, 3pm MT, 2pm PT).

A super fun, high energy program where young chess players learn and practice chess piece names, movement,

and capture. Carlos incorporates singing, dancing, fun chess stories and movement to motivate and inspire your child.

Your child will learn the two most common basic checkmate patterns. Your child will also be introduced to the three

phases of the game: opening strategy, middle game (tactics & positional advantage) and endgame strategy. This is

a two day class.

Instructor's bio:
A message from Carlos: Welcome to all those who love playing chess and all those who want to learn. We will

be training with fun practice chess tournaments, interactive chess puzzles, and chess movies! I look forward to

playing with all of you! I have been teaching chess full time for the last 20 years. I have taught chess to more than

10,000 students. Many of my students train and participate in state and national chess championships. Some of my

students have finished first place in their states and in the nation. My teaching methodology caters to all

learning styles covering the full range of neuro-diversity. My classes are super fun and high energy, and incorporate

singing, dancing and chanting.

Adam is looking to his class with Mr. Sanchez. Thanks to Mr. Carlos encouragement Adam improve not only his cheese, but behavior of waiting for his turn, not taking so hard when he looses (as per Mr. Carlos you learning not loosing, which resonate with Adam)

Would love to sign up for classes during the week.

I loved how Carlos changed up his approach when teaching an all girls class. He named their team a combination of every imaginable thing very young girls like (unicorns, sparkles, puppies), and for my child it drew her in even more. He's very engaging and makes each child feel like an important "chess champ".

The booking receipt provides instructions on how to register for, but perhaps it could go further and help parents understand what will be required during class (request to join the TM team, how to look for links in the chat window).

Mr. Sanchez was energetic and engaging. He gave clear instructions and broke the class down to a very beginner level (appropriate for the target audience K-2). We will definitely book more classes with him as our schedule allows.
