Class Experience

Have you ever wanted to create your own video games? Enter the mind of a game
developer and designer in our Unity Game Design Lab. This is a perfect camp to expand your skills in digital design while learning how to produce 2-D pixel sprites for your very own video game. We will be learning how to develop and launch games using UNITY- is the world’s leading platform for creating and operating interactive, real-time 3D (RT3D) content. It’s what real game developers use.

In this 2-week game design course we will explore the tools and techniques used by early game developers to create “gaming classics” and then explore methods they used that influence modern games today. By the end of camp you'll walk away with in-depth knowledge, exposure, and practices used everyday by game developers.

Week One we will focus one Character development and building leave. We will bring our character to life using C# object oriented programming in Unity. Week two we will dive deeper into polishing our games with lighting, sound effects, power ups and last but not least building our Boss Bit. Think Bowser in Super Mario. This is an introductory course into the world of video game development focusing on: functionality, mechanics, and interactive design used to create engaging games.

Loved:

The instructor is very engaging (i.e., tells age appropriate jokes, really relates well with our child by asking about her interests) and patient. The materials are unique and my child looks forward to each activity with excitement.

Improvements:

The only thing that comes to mind is making sure that there are enough activities to fill the entire two hour time slot. Otherwise, no improvements needed.

Improvements:

the teacher provided no instruction at all. my 6-year old had to do everything on his own while the teacher remained completely silent. Then she abruptly said she had to end the class ten minutes early and ended the zoom call.
