5:00pm - 5:50pm CDT
Dropping in to a class means that the class has already begun and you are dropping in to a course that began in the past, so please do not expect it to be class 1. Will your child be able to do it? Absolutely. Should you give them time to get used to a new language and not expect them to understand 100% the first class? Absolutely. So if you decide to drop in, remember this please, and sign up for more classes to give them time to adjust. Do not give up after 1 class simply because it was challenging. Any new thing will be just that: CHALLENGING!
This class is for those who are beginners, or taking Spanish currently as the first semester, up to 2 completed semesters. Ask about higher level classes (3+ semesters completed) to 469-338-9382 or email@example.com. We will create a course for you on the days and times you want.
This is considered A2 beginner/upper beginner Spanish. This class will focus on speaking about various topics and getting confident speaking, understanding spoken questions, answering questions and expressing ideas in Spanish. THE FOCUS IS FLUENCY, since if you are fluent, everything else comes with it (reading/writing, because they are already literate).
The most important aspect of learning a new language is attending class for interaction in Spanish - real fluency. Do not stress about doing anything outside of class, unless you want to have extra work (which we can provide and suggest, like Netflix shows). But again, what moves the needle with fluency is attending the conversation classes, not sitting in a room 'studying' language or reading books (books do not train your ears to HEAR the language nuances).
This class will be student-centered. We will get an idea of popular topics during the first class and focus on relevant, interesting conversations based on students' interests.
Curriculum will consist of the following:
- short film
- go over grammar ideas and vocabulary in a NON grammar way through conversation and usage and quick/question and answers
- discussion of film
- question/answer back and forth for ear training
- game or helpful activity to solidify new words
- questions and discussion about culture/language
Basic fluency takes 300+ hours of speaking and listening in a conversation (not just watching TV), so our goal is to give fluency by 3 years of consistent conversations about various topics. Consistency is the key. IF you miss a week, who cares! Miss a month? It's okay! Just get back in it. IF you can only attend once a week, just drop in. The goal is just not to quit.
You can only access the class right before class. You will receive an email that says JOIN ACTIVITY. You can also log in to HiSawyer.com (our registration system) to see your full class schedule. Before class, a button will appear that says JOIN ACTIVITY. The Zoom link is in that button. You will never get a link emailed to you. Only the button can be used to join class.

About TruFluency Kids Spanish Immersion
TruFluency Kids Spanish Immersion was started in 2010 in person in Dallas, TX by Micah Bellieu, 15 + year second language acquisition researcher who has gotten fluent in Spanish, French and Japanese. Her Bellieu Method for fluency is employed by all Spanish speaking native instructors who are professional teachers. The Bellieu Method focuses on speaking and a question/answer with stories method that gives faster progress than other methods since it creates constant conversation throughout the class.
