Class Experience

If you’ve completed an Introduction to Python with Boolean Girl and are ready to apply your skills to complete some challenging projects, this is the camp for you. Python is easy to learn and is used by many companies Wikipedia, Google, Yahoo!, NASA, Facebook, Amazon, and Spotify. Campers will learn while having fun while completing projects like Tic-Tac-Toe, Pong or other logical challenges that reinforce core coding skills. This camp will prepare you to move on to the challenges of building graphic games using PyGames.

1) This class is for girls, in alignment with our nonprofit mission to inspire more girls to pursue STEM. Co-ed classes are also available.
2) Class sessions alternate. The first class is a lesson. The class that follows is a lab where children apply the skills learned in the prior class.
During the 1 Hr class session, instruction is provided and students are given short periods to apply their learning
During the lab time, instructors work with students is smaller groups and 1:1, Instructors may provide instruction specific to projects the kids are working on. Children are encouraged to ask questions and get personal attention outside of regular classes.
3) Students are encouraged to work between the classes on their own or in the lab.

My daughter loves every part of camp. She loves how much time she gets to work on her story and her coding. She also enjoys the down time of games/crafts and lunchtime events.

Everything seems to be really well structured, planned and executed.

My daughter loved the experience of coding. She felt that the counselors were patient and supportive of her as she learned.

I don't think the kids got much time outside during the day, and a little exercise/movement/outside time would have been good.

About Boolean Girl

Boolean Girl, a non profit corporation founded in 2014, is educating girls to code, build, invent, and animate.

We provide all-girl and co-ed classes, all-girl camps, special events, and partnerships - preparing girls (and boys) everywhere to explore computer programming and engineering.

The mission of Boolean Girl is to address the declining numbers of girls and women in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) fields by engaging girls in grades three through eight with meaningful, hands-on instruction and sustained exposure to computer science and engineering in a collaborative and welcoming environment.
