Class Experience

Grab a bucket full, or at least a few hundred Legos or forty Duplo Legos and join us as we Playgineer - explore thinking like engineers! We'll have blast building together with all kinds of Legos, but if possible, also bringing Technic Lego pieces like Bricks, Beams and Plates with Holes, Gears, Axles, and Bushings and Pegs will be really great too. These hands-on, online classes use the Engineer's Process to focus students' understanding through imagining and constructing scenes and stories that go with mechanized models; so creating a bakery to go with the mixer model they make, or a boat to be wheeled to shore with the mechanized crane they assemble, or a barn to store the grain produced by the windmill they build, and much more...And, then we play with what we build!

How To Participate

You will receive an email 30 minutes before class starts with a link to the class and access instructions.

My kid got so much out of this power packed little except. And it was free! We can't wait to do more like it so we will definitely be registering for the longer fee-based classes!

Response from The ROC Network for Learning

Yes, as described in the listing's description, the series of these free short pre-recorded segments are 1 - 5 minute time-lapsed excerpts from the 30 - 60 minute live online sessions of our Fungineering & Playgineering programs. And, even though these are excerpts, they are still packed with engineering information and instruction for the 20 minute activity students continue engaging offline.

Loved:

My kids absolutely LOVED this! They were able to follow along, pausing, rewinding, and reviewing concepts as they needed. They learned A LOT in such a short time, and yet they were inspired to continue building and playing with what they made long after watching the video! Thank you so much for offering such a great opportunity for kids who love making things. We will definitely be signing up for more classes!

We never got a chance to join the class. What a heck?!

Improvements:

They never send us the link or anything to join the class. After emailing them, they told me they thought it's the previous day. They told me they will rearrange it today. But no more information after that, no link or password. Are they serious?

Response from The ROC Network for Learning

It was great pleasure having your son in the session!  We were sad when we had to say goodbye too - We'd love to have him join our weekly club that meets every week and for a longer duration of time.  And, we've just listed Holiday Camps that also run on consecutive days!

We create engaging experiences that encourage thinking, motivate problem solving, and inspire productive collaborating and socializing.

Featuring individualized, customized, project based enrichment for children, teens, and adults, through everything from Archery to Zoology, while specializing in STEM programs like Lego Robotics, Scratch Animation, Minecraft and game design, The ROC serves as an incubator for new ideas of education, both inside and outside traditional institutions, connecting students and families with teachers, curriculum, programs, professionals, and businesses to create both traditional and experimental learning experiences, innovative twists on traditional subjects, and new ideas for independent learning and skill building.

Throughout it all, The ROC's philosophy is fundamental: the belief that no matter how diverse our communities are, no matter how individually different we are from each other, there are spaces, subjects and experiences where we can meet, grow and learn together.
