Black Girls Matter is designed to empower and liberate young black girls by exploring and expanding their understanding of self-esteem and self-love. The ten-session series will incorporate the principles of Narrative Therapy and a few cognitive-behavioral techniques that connect to a Black girl’s core beliefs systems. Young girls will learn to explore and express their feelings within a group setting to foster emotional intelligence and confidence.

Domenique Harrison is a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT) and a Registered Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC) through the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. She is also a member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT) and the American Counseling Association (ACA). Domenique received a Bachelor of Arts in History from Haverford College, a Master in Public Health from New York University, and a Master in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family therapy from Pepperdine University
Domenique grounds her therapeutic work in empathy, justice, and racial equity and believes in owning the impact of our words and actions rather than our intentions. Her therapeutic approach integrates transgenerational family therapy, narrative and solution-focused theories, and trauma-informed practices that lead to transformative individual, couple, and family client outcomes. Domenique – a compassionate collaborator and truth-teller – "stands in the gap" with her clients as they realize their truths and actualize their goals and passions.

Maybe next time the instructor can call on people to ensure participation and enhance flow of the class! Other than that it was awesome!!!
