Creative coding club for girls in grades 6-7. This is a fun, social, and creative introduction to coding for girls!
Using Code/Art’s art-infused curriculum, club members will learn to code games, mobile apps, websites, and create their own artistic creations! No prior coding experience required.
Clubs meet weekly over 8 months, with occasional weeks off for holidays, school vacations, etc. (review calendar for exact days).
Spring Showcase: The club holds a graduation + showcase event in May. Parents are invited, students demo their group and/or individual projects, and each girl receives a certificate for the coding level completed.
Prerequisites: No prior coding experience required. Girls in grade 5 who have previously attended a CodeHER club are also welcome to join. Click here for SYLLABUS.
Materials needed to participate: Any desktop computer or laptop (including Apple Mac, Chromebook and Surface Pro laptops) are good. While most tablet devices will also work, we advise against using them due to their limitations. You will also need wifi connection.
Software needed: we use free online platforms such as Khan Academy and MIT Scratch for our lessons (no software downloads required). Instructions on creating these accounts will be provided.
