Class Experience

We teach history through art! Our weekly virtual workshops are supplemental learning sessions to your child's education, as we add geography and history to our art classes. Taught by Anna Donado (MFA) and Juan Donado (PhD in Philosophy.)

CLASS DESCRIPTION: This Fall & Winter we will travel around the world during the 15th and 16th centuries. We will begin with a short lesson/review on Geography and students will learn to draw the world map from memory. We will then do a four week study into Leonardo da Vinci. Afterwards we will look at the New World and the Age of Exploration while building a wooden ship. Additionally, we will create masks and artwork inspired by the Aztecs and take a look at art in India in the 1400s.

VIRTUAL PROGRAM INCLUDES:
- A craft kit delivered to your home twice a month.
- One weekly Zoom session that corresponds with the craft kit, every Thursday from 3:45-5:00. Classes are continuous and we will often work on 3D projects that take several weeks to complete. Zoom class taught by Anna and Juan Donado. Juan has a PhD in Philosophy and teaches history and philosophy while the students work on their art project, which is led by Anna.
- Full immersion into the world during the 15th & 16th centuries.
- Approximately 1 additional video emailed each week with 20 minute activities. These videos are made by our educated teaching artists.
- Full access to our virtual art video library, which has over 100 videos on topics from Ancient History to Modern Art.
- “GG Art Club” on the first Friday of each month - an additional Zoom hour with one of our teaching artists or a special guest.

Notes

After registering, we will mail your child's craft kit bi-weekly. Our Zoom classes will teach your child how to assemble and create the items in their kit.

Loved:

The Qin and Han Dynasty was something my daughter had never known about about and something I had forgotten about. She learned a great deal and now when she comes across this in the future she will already be prepared. The tower was so interesting to see when all the pieces were coming together.

Improvements:

Nothing, Anna & Juan are incredible. The wealth of information and inspiration they give to their students is amazing. My daughter has learned so much from her classes with Goose Grease! They have also inspired her to explore her imagination and create beyond what is given...we usually spend another 30 to 45 minutes after class working with the projects or expanding into other projects that are similar to the current work.

About Goose Grease Shop

Goose Grease House is a Brooklyn-based art workspace that offers unique classes, interactive camps and creative experiences by blending art with history and culture. We offer in-studio and virtual classes.

Our studio is dedicated to expanding the minds and skills of young Goose Greasers. With a curriculum designed by husband and wife team, Juan and Anna Donado, budding artists are encouraged to think independently and creatively while immersing themselves in multi-media arts.

Juan holds a PhD in Philosophy and uses his background in languages and the classical cannon to develop robust historical lessons. Anna has a Masters in the Arts and combines many art forms into her mixed media, sculptural approach to learning history.
