Class Experience

In this two-semester class for students 13-18, we will explore the art form of immersive and site-specific theatre. The class will culminate in a live event in March 2022 in the Boston area, which will include remote students as performers or designers.

Students will be asked to do some creative work outside of class, such as coming up with three story ideas for the production, creating a soundscape or a movement sequence to teach the group.

Class Requirements

  • Open to ages 13-18, or grades 8-12 and 2021 HS grads on a gap year.

What you'll learn

  • Explore elements of theatre perfomance and design beyond the format of a traditional stage play
  • Anne Bogart's Viewpoints work for acting
  • Collaborative work

Sample Class Format

  • Students will meet about once a week on Zoom, choose an existing story, myth or classic play, examine the themes and characters, and create an audience experience that engages all the senses.
  • Class and production times can be arranged according to everyone's schedule.

really low-key, welcoming, inclusive experience!

It's always hard to hear children in a performance, and microphones are awesome when you can get your hands on them :) The week 2 performance was much easier to follow and hear than week 1. It was no problem for me personally but if I had had my daughter's grandparents with me they would have had absolutely no idea what was going on either week - LOL.
