Gear up for adventure and prepare for a Summer of epic proportions! If you live in Brooklyn, New York Society of Play is taking over a park near you!

Campers will save the day with our original, one-of-a-kind Live Action Role Playing Game, which incorporates elements of foam swordplay, item collecting, cartography, orienteering, arts & crafts, and so much more! Your campers will take on the role of heroes and go on missions which will improve the quality of the fantasy world they will play in!

Before lunch, campers will get active with our Foam Sword program, taking part in cooperative and team-based competitive games including Capture the Flag, Jedi vs. Stormtroopers, Wizard Wars, and more!

After lunch, campers will sit down with our master storytellers to dive into a pen and paper Role Playing Game in the style of Dungeons & Dragons! Your camper will take on the role of a main character in settings such as Marvel, Star Wars, Harry Potter, and more! Role Playing games are a valuable exercise in problem solving, arithmetic, reading comprehension, and public speaking.

Our summer program is bound by a social contract championing the traits which constitute a healthy and inviting play environment- trust, consent, cooperation, respect and safety! These values are at the heart of each activity we do here at the New York Society of Play, and our campers exemplify these values as well!

This Summer, we are making several changes to make our summer program as safe as possible given the COVID-19 crisis. Our program will be capped at 12 children per day, divided across 3 to 4 instructors, to ensure safe group sizes where our campers will get all the care and attention they need to have the best experience possible! While our summer program will primarily take place outside, We also have access to indoor space for when the weather gets a bit too intense to be out in the park. In addition, we will be following all CDC and state guidelines on social distancing, mask wearing, and sanitization.

Meet your Instructors

Whit C.

I’ve worked in childcare since 2015, and have a BFA in Acting from Pace University. Seeing the joy kids experience while having fun, playing games, and thinking critically interests and excites me. Watching the kids take the games and systems we make and build on them their own ideas is both rewarding and inspiring. This is a dream job, and I’m so blessed and happy to be able to do it. In my free time, I like to design new games, play Magic the Gathering, play basketball, and blow the trumpet!

Raphael C.

Before and while earning a B.A. in Music and Theatre Arts from Brown University, I served in many roles with theatrical organizations. I work in childcare because imagination is something that is very strong during youth, and can remain strong throughout the aging process as long as it has a solid foundation. I enjoy helping kids embrace and cultivate their imaginations in a fun and healthy manner. In my free time, I like to play D&D, compose music, and bake.

Meredith M.

I graduated in 2020 with a major in Medieval Studies and a minor in Art History from Fordham University. I’ve worked with children both as a monitor at an elementary school and as a staff member at a pool. Working with kids is a rewarding experience, especially when it comes to fostering social and emotional skills. I believe children who have niche interests in fantasy, RPGs, and card games deserve a space to be themselves. I enjoy drawing, reading, origami, running, RPGs, and video games.
