Meet your Instructors

James B.

James has been teaching both children and adults since 2017. He currently runs classes both online as well as with other in-person studios in the area. Before teaching, James worked in entertainment art from 2011-2015 doing comics, and storyboards and he currently does book covers and licensed holiday art when he is not teaching. He is a huge fan of scifi/fantasy and teaches cartooning, painting and basic drawing.

Becca M.

Mikayla M.

Mikayla was born and raised in Vermont. She previously worked at TW Wood Art Center in Montpelier where she taught after school art and summer camps. She has ten plus years of experience working with kids in all different settings. She earned a BFA in Studio Arts at Johnson State College in 2018 and received a MFA in Studio Arts with a concentration in Painting and Sculpture at NVU-Johnson in 2020. Mikayla loves to paint, make installation art, craft, travel and play tennis.

Emma J.

Emma is an Arts Education student at UVM. She specializes in painting, but has an immense love for every art form. If she’s not creating, she’s probably either studying for classes or baking for her friends.

Jennifer P.

Jennifer has a plethora of experience working with and teaching families and children from birth to elders. Her extensive career in the Arts includes: professional dance and theater, exhibited painting & photography, published writing and spoken word. She enjoys cultivating space for others to explore their own artistic paths while providing new experiences. She holds an MA in Education, is a Master Yoga Educator & Birth Specialist, and is currently writing and illustrating a children's book.

Lara C.

Lara Cwass graduated from UVM with a degree in jazz guitar, and continues to sing and play music throughout VT. Lara enjoys being fully immersed in other art forms such as drawing, painting, and acting. Lara currently works at UVM medical center, has worked as a camp counselor for numerous summers in her teen years, and also enjoys nannying and pet sitting around Burlington.
