Say goodbye to training wheels! Participants in PedalPower Kids’ Learn to Ride Bootcamp will learn to ride safely and confidently over the course of four lessons. The accelerated Bootcamp is best suited to riders with previous balance bike experience, or some bike experience and motivation to learn to ride independently. Participants master balance and gliding first, then easily transition to riding independently, starting/stopping, speed control, turning, steering, riding in groups and around obstacles and hazards. Even the most reluctant riders will be beaming by week's end, encouraged by our expert instructors and caring staff, specialized equipment and lots of practice through games and fun. Note that our classes are held outside, cold, rain or shine, so please be prepared for Maryland weather! Bootcamp runs for 4 50 minute sessions, with NO MAKEUP DAYS. Participants MUST be 4.5 years or older for this particular small group program. Tuition includes use of one of our lightweight, specialized Woom bikes for the week. We will have the correct size bike for your learning rider (often smaller than the actual size they will use once pedaling) and bike will be ready for their use each day. Participants must bring helmet, water, sneakers and athletic clothing. Parents may stay or drop off.
MAKE UPS WILL ONLY BE ACCEPTED DUE TO ILLNESS OR INCLEMENT WEATHER. Make ups can be scheduled during our Returning Riders Practice Clinic times only. When signing up for Learn to Ride Bootcamp, please confirm that you are able to attend all 4 classes as scheduled, at the time you signed up for (Sat/Sun weekend 1, Sat/Sun weekend 2). We constantly receive requests to switch/reschedule/make up classes, which is disruptive to the class flow and other participants, and we will no longer allow students to make up classes during other Learn to Ride bootcamps.
Required Equipment: helmet, bike gloves and sunglasses suggested, large water bottle.
You will receive additional information about your Bootcamp location, Drop Off and Pick Up procedures, Covid 19 policies, and more.
