Playzeum Explosion Contest Information and Rules
Design GoalThe goal of the pumpkin explosion contest is to design an enclosure creative filled pumpkin that will be dropped 30 feet. Entry is free.
Entry Categories
Elementary K-4th (age 5 to 10) groups including school classrooms, 4-H groups, girl and boy scout troops, church youth groups, homeschool groups, sports teams and others. (limited to 15 groups) JR High 5th-8th (age 11 to 13) groups including school classrooms, 4-H groups, girl and boy scout troops, school clubs, church youth groups, home school groups and others. (limited to 5 groups)
How to win
There are three ways to win.
Biggest explosion. 2) Most colorful explosion. 2) Most creative.
What do you win
Prizes will include a free field trip to the Playzeum for up to 25 students or group party package.
Rules - Pumpkins must be between 3 to 15 pounds.
- Pumpkins will be dropped by a Playzeum staff member, all participants and spectators can watch near the drop zone. Drop order will be assigned by check-in.

No hard materials (which include but are not limited to wood, metal, PVC pipe, or glass) are allowed. - Please keep the safety of participants & observers in mind at all times.
- The judges will have final say on whether entries are viewed as safe to be dropped. Judges will disqualify entries with heavy, sharp, or protruding parts. These decisions are final.
- Someone from the entry team must be present at the pumpkin drop to claim prizes.
- Materials will not be returned. Items will be disposed of by event staff. No participants are permitted in the drop zone.
When to drop off
Bring your pumpkin ready to be dropped on Friday, Oct 6th between 12:30pm to 4:30pm or Saturday, Oct 7th between 9 to 9:30am.
All online entries must be received by 1pm on October 5th.
