We collect information about you whenever you use Sawyer.
If you are a business or other partner who signs up for Sawyer to list children’s classes, camps, or other services (a “Provider”), we ask for your name, address, phone number, email, and other information about your business or service, as well as names and email addresses of individuals authorized to use your account. We also collect Personally Identifiable Information about your Customers (defined below), in order to enable Customers to book classes or other children’s events with you. .
If you’re a parent, guardian, or other individual who wants to book a class on Sawyer (a “Customer”), you’ll be required to create an account where we’ll ask that you provide various information, including some Personally Identifiable Information. For example, we may collect information, including your name, address, phone number, email, child’s name and birthday, and credit card information, as well as any other information you provide to us, in order to process the transaction. We may also collect this information for marketing or other business purposes. This information may be shared with third parties for the same purposes. We may also collect other Personally Identifiable Information at the request of the business you are transacting with.
Like most online services, Sawyer automatically collects and stores Non-Personally Identifiable Information that your computer or mobile device provides to us in connection with your use of the Platform, such as: The type of computer or mobile device you use; Your device’s unique identifier; IP Address; MAC address; and Your device’s operating system and physical location (including geolocation, beacon based location, and GPS location).
We may also store usage data such as the date and time you access our servers, and what information and files have been downloaded to the application based on your device number.
Sawyer may incorporate technology such as cookies, web beacons, pixel tags, and local storage to collect and store information.
Web beacons are tiny graphic objects embedded in a web page or email, which allow us to check that a user has viewed a page on Sawyer or an email.
We may use web beacons alone or in conjunction with cookies to compile information about our Platform. Web beacons may be used within the Platform to track email open rates, web page visits, or form submissions. In some cases, we tie the information gathered by web beacons to Personally Identifiable Information. For example, we use clear gifs in our HTML-based emails to let us know which emails have been opened by recipients. This allows us to gauge the effectiveness of certain communications and the effectiveness of our marketing campaigns.
We may use local shared objects, such as Flash cookies, or local storage objects, available using HTML5, to store information and preferences on your computer. Third Parties Services (defined below) may also provide certain features on our Platform to display advertising based upon your web browsing activity that also use Flash cookies or HTML5 to collect and store information.
Third-party analytics software and tools help us gather certain information automatically and store it for analytical purposes. These services generally collect Non-personally identifiable information, including how often you visit Sawyer, what areas of Sawyer you visit, and what other sites or services you used prior to using Sawyer.
For example, we use Google Analytics, which relies on cookies and other, similar technology to collect and analyze information about use of the Platform and report on activities and trends. This service may also collect information regarding the use of other websites, apps and online resources. You can learn about Google’s practices by going to www.google.com/policies/privacy/partners/, and opt out of them by downloading the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, available at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
Sawyer also includes social media features such as the Facebook “Like” button, and widgets, such as the “Share This” button . These features collect various information, including your IP address, the areas of Sawyer you visit, and also may set cookies in order to function properly. Social media features and widgets are either hosted by a third party or hosted directly on our Site.
We use sign-in services such as Facebook Connect and OpenID to streamline the registration process. These services authenticate your identity and provide you with the option to share certain Personally Identifiable Information with us such as your name and email address to pre-populate our sign up form. Services like Facebook Connect also give you the option to post information about your activities on our website to your profile page to share with others within your network.
In addition to the above ways we collect information, it is conceivable that we may receive information about you from other sources, such as public databases, strategic and joint marketing partners, social media platforms, people with whom you are friends or otherwise connected on social media platforms, as well as from other third parties. For example, if you elect to connect your social media account to your Sawyer account, certain information from your social media account may be shared with us, including information that’s part of your profile or your friends’ profiles.
Likewise, if you contact us via email or by some other means (either through our App or Site or through a Third Party Service), we may keep a record of your contact information and correspondence for later reference (to help improve Sawyer!).
We primarily use the information we collect and store to enhance Sawyer. Except if we sell all or a portion of our business, or as otherwise described below, we currently do not rent, trade, or sell your Personally Identifiable Information.
We may use your Personally Identifiable Information:
To respond to your inquiries and fulfill your requests; To send administrative information to you (for example, information regarding our services and changes to our terms, conditions, and policies); To complete and fulfill your class purchase or registration (for example, to process your payments, communicate with you regarding your purchase, and provide you with related customer service); To send you marketing communications that we believe may be of interest to you, such as our newsletter; For other business purposes, such as data analysis, audits, fraud monitoring and prevention, developing new products and services, enhancing, improving or modifying our products and services, identifying usage trends, determining the effectiveness of our promotional campaigns, and operating and expanding our business activities.
We may also use Non-Personally Identifiable information that we collect or that is collected by Third Party Services to track and aggregate information to analyze trends, administer the site, track users’ movements around the Platform and to gather demographic information about our user base in the aggregate.
We may disclose your Personally Identifiable Information:
To third-party service providers who provide services such as website hosting, data analysis, payment processing services, order fulfillment, information technology and related infrastructure provision, customer service, email delivery, credit card processing, auditing, and other similar services; To our Providers; To your friends associated with your social media account, to other website users, as well as to your social media account provider, in connection with your social sharing activity, such as if you connect your Facebook account to your Sawyer account; As required by law, including laws outside your country of residence, such as to comply with a subpoena, or similar legal process; When we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, protect your safety or the safety of others, investigate fraud, or respond to a government request including a request from authorities outside your country of residence; To protect our operations;
To protect our rights, privacy, safety or property, and/or that of you or others; and
To allow us to pursue available remedies or limit the damages that we may sustain.
If you would like to review, correct, update, or delete any Personally Identifiable Information, you can log onto the Platform and modify or update your information by selecting the “My Info” and “Settings” options, or you can email our customer support at firstname.lastname@example.org.
In your request, please make clear what Personally Identifiable Information you would like to have changed or removed from our database. For your protection, we may only implement requests with respect to the Personally Identifiable Information associated with the particular email address that you use to send us your request, and we may need to verify your identity before changing or removing any information. We will try to comply with your request as soon as reasonably practicable.
If you no longer want to receive marketing-related emails from us on a going-forward basis, you may opt-out of receiving these marketing-related emails by sending a request for list removal to email@example.com. If you provide your information to Sawyer, you can opt-out at any time. This will allow you to save your information with Sawyer, but we will not use your information for marketing purposes.
Online tracking is the collection of data about an individual’s Internet activity used to deliver targeted advertisements and for other purposes.
Some web browsers (including Safari, Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Chrome) incorporate a “Do Not Track” (DNT) or similar feature, which provides websites with a signal that a visitor does not want to have his/her online activity and behavior tracked. If an online service elects to respond to a particular DNT signal, the service may refrain from collecting certain personal information about the browser’s user. Not all browsers offer a DNT option and there is currently no industry consensus as to what constitutes a DNT signal. For these reasons, many website operators, including Sawyer, do not take action to respond to DNT signals. For more information about DNT signals, visit http://allaboutdnt.com.
If you wish to not have this information used for the purpose of serving you targeted ads, you may opt-out. You will continue to receive generic ads.
Even if you disable your account, or change your Personally Identifiable information, we may need to retain certain information for recordkeeping purposes or to complete any transactions that you began prior to requesting such change or deletion (e.g., when you make a purchase, you may not be able to change or delete the Personally Identifiable Information provided until after the completion of such purchase). There may also be residual information that will remain within our databases and other records, which will not be removed so that Sawyer will continue to function properly or because it would be burdensome to delete.
If you are a Customer of one of our Providers and would no longer like to be contacted by a Provider, or would like to access, correct, amend, or delete inaccurate Personally Identifiable Information held by a Provider, please contact the Provider that you interact with directly.
The security of Personally Identifiable Information is a high priority for us. We maintain our Platform and all associated data with technical, administrative, and physical safeguards to protect against loss, unauthorized access, destruction, misuse, modification, and improper disclosure. Unfortunately, no data transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. If you have any questions about the security of your interaction with us (if, for example, you feel that the security of any account you might have with us has been compromised), you can contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We are especially sensitive about children and parent/guardian information. We’re a site directed towards parents and guardians, and are not directed towards children. We don’t knowingly collect information from children under the age of 13. We request that children not provide Personally Identifiable Information through the Platform. If you learn that your child is using Sawyer, please contact us at email@example.com and we will take steps to address it.
If you are a California resident you may ask us for notice identifying the categories of Personally Identifiable Information we share with our affiliates and/or third parties for marketing purposes and the contact information for such affiliates and/or third parties (under California Civil Code Sections 1798.83-1798.84). If you are a California resident and would like a copy of this notice, please submit a written request to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Sawyer is hosted in the United States, and is not intended to be subjected to the laws or jurisdiction of any state, country or territory other than that of the United States. Your Personally Identifiable Information may be stored and processed in any country where we have facilities or in which we engage service providers, and by using the Platform, you consent to the transfer of information to countries outside of your country of residence, including the United States, which may have different data protection rules than those of your country.
