Our Holiday Labs run on days that public school is closed. Labs start with our unique twist on chess (new pieces, new modifications), and continue with strategic board games. Then kids create new game designs, new rules, and the like. They receive merit badges for their contributions and skills. If weather allows, we spend an hour in Prospect Park for outdoor game play. The afternoon concludes with role playing games, design time, and free play!
• CHILDREN AGES 6-8 are located at 310 7th Avenue. CHILDREN AGES 9-14 are located at 479 7th Avenue. Confirmation of your child's location after registration will be made one week before camp begins. • LUNCHES / FOOD ALLERGIES BGL does not provide lunch. All students should pack a sack lunch. We do NOT have a refrigerator or microwave. • Snacks are permitted and encouraged, although once again, not provided by BGL. We ask parents to avoid tree nuts whenever possible, although we do NOT have a strict no-nut policy. If your child has any severe allergy, or travels with an EpiPen please note that on your permission form with explicit written instruction for the staff. • WATER BOTTLES Students are required to come to camp with a water bottle (or purchase a disposable water bottle from the corner store upon drop-off). Everyday (weather permitting) the students head to Prospect Park for 45 minutes and engage in physical activities. • BATTLE LAB (This is run weather permitting -- our colder months may impact this activity) One of the most popular programs at BGL is “Battle Lab” where students take part in Live-Action Strategy, fighting with foam swords in the park. Safety is our primary concern, but - as with any physical activity - the risk of injury exists. Parents may choose to have their camper abstain from participating by alerting us at the drop off and leaving a written note on their permission forms. Let us know if you have any questions about this or any other programs running during camp. And – have your child wear footwear that doesn’t cause him or her to trip!

About this provider
We don’t just teach kids how to play games; we teach them how to analyze, discuss, and experiment with their own variants in small groups. Our kids are encouraged to think out of the (game) box.Kids who engage in our specialized approach to gaming develop critical-thinking skills like risk and resource management, the art of negotiation and deduction, and long-term planning. The Lab also stresses the importance of fair play, diplomacy, collaboration, and a positive attitude however the game turns out. Located in Park Slope and TriBeCa, Brooklyn Game Lab has classes and camps for kids!
